GRANT for young researchers in Coastal Engineering from under-represented Mediterranean countries
Foreword: On sept 2024 the 38th biennal COPRI/ASCE International Conference on Coastal Engineering will be held in Rome. It is the major event in the field attracting about 1000 delegates worldwide (mostly researchers and designers) to present and discuss advances of knowledge and technology in the field. Main topics are marine hydrodynamics, beach morphodynamics, port and coastal structures, risk analysis and coastal management and environment. Oral and poster presentations of nearly 900 papers will be given in technical sessions from Monday to Friday. Specialist short courses on numerical and physical modelling will be offered on Sunday 8. Technical visits are planned to beaches and ports along the coasts near Rome as well as a post conference tour to the MOSE project in Venice. Many social events are scheduled during the week. Detailed info is available on the website.
Given the strategic geographical location of Rome and the likely marginal presence of participants from less developed Mediterranean countries, the ICCE24 organizers wish to enhance inclusivity by favouring the attendance of a few young (non presenting) experts from such countries by providing suitable grants.
The few available scholarships, with an amount of 1000 € each, will cover all conference fees and part of travel/accomodation expenses (to be reimbursed after submission of receipts up to the given amount).
- Eligible participants are academic researchers and phd students and public officers (age 25-45) working in the field of Coastal Engineering and Management, with a good knowledge of English.
- Eligible participants to this call should come from lower income mediterranean countries such as: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria.
Candidates should complete the following form by clicking on the button below, will be asked to submit their CV and motivation by 31 May 2024, and will be selected by the LOC and notified by 30 June 2024.
P.S. It is recommended to spread this call info among known contacts and potential candidates
